The CROCO autumn school will be held in Brest, France from Nov 24th to Nov 28th 2025.

This 5-days school consists of a series of lectures and practical work sessions. The aim is to familiarise participants with the use of the CROCO numerical ocean model. The school will be at beginner level, presenting CROCO physical bases, numerical options and code organisation, and practicing CROCO to model ocean circulation at regional and coastal scales. Participants will be encouraged to design the configuration of their choice, and to briefly present their results at the end of the week.

The expected learning outcomes are the ability to :

● Identify the key elements of an ocean numerical model,

● Select key parameters to configure CROCO,

● Pre-process the information necessary to run ocean simulations with CROCO,

● Run CROCO,

● Post-process CROCO outputs.

The school is designed for students, PhD students, post-docs and researchers interested in numerical ocean modelling, who have already used or plan to use CROCO. The course will be in English and/or in French depending on the audience.

Basic knowledge of physical oceanography, and experience of programming with Python and Fortran in a Linux environment are required.

# Practical Informations :

The school is free of charge ; missions (accommodation, meals) and travel expenses are not covered.

The school will be located at IFREMER, near Brest, France. The place is accessible by public transportation from Brest city center. See the 'Venue' page.

Practical work will be carried out on PCs provided by IFREMER and will use the Datarmor HPC Center. 

# Registration :

Registration opens on May 1st and closes on October 1st. As the number of participants is limited to 20, confirmations will be sent out on October 10th.
